I was sent off to Collyhurst, a deprived area of Manchester, to photograph some maisonette houses which the council had proposed knocking down. I was asked to do some general views of the houses and do a portrait of a resident who was unhappy with the proposal. There was a pretty strong sense of community spirit there and nobody was happy with the idea of knocking down the houses and the breakdown of the community that would follow... however, the housing is delapidated and in need of modernising so maybe in the long term it would be beneficial.

My favourite picture of the set was the two kids playing in front of the houses.
The paper ran the portrait of the resident.
