Professor Bernard Richards photographed for a feature to mark the centenary of Alan Turing 's birth .

Professor Richards provides a fascinating human link to a period that can easily be seen as consigned to the history books . As a young masters student at Manchester University he worked alongside Turing . He then spent most of his life working at the University where  he still works as a Professor aged 80 .
